Care Instructions

[Note that in the case of some delicate fabrics the following steps are not recommended, please contact Lyssy May if you are unsure].

. It is recommended that any small marks that your bag may receive are spot removed with a damp cloth. We have found the most effective method is to use an alcohol wipe, such as a baby wipe.

. In time you may wish to freshen your bag (if it is used regularly) by hand washing it separately in cold to luke warm water with a mild detergent and leave lying flat in the shade to dry. Some designs with resin handles are able to have the handles slide out to make it easier to wash. It is also recommended that you add some salt to the water although every effort is made to ensure that the fabrics used are colour fast.

. If your bag has any special trims on it please take care with them when hand washing and do not rub them.

. If your bag becomes creased you can press it gently with a cool to warm iron, being careful to avoid any special trims or buttons.

Lyssy May's studio as it was in Brisbane - the new Melbourne one soon to be revealed.

The Lyssy May Story

Lyssy May was officially launched in May 2003 and is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. The story behind the business began when the owner, Alyssa, was first taught embroidery by her Grandmother at a very young age. An interest in many forms of arts, crafts and textiles led Alyssa to selling her wares at local markets in South-East Queensland in the mid to late 90's.

After returning to Brisbane after 2 years living in London, Alyssa developed the concept of Lyssy May, having been inspired by the fashions, fabrics and traditional crafts of the UK and Europe.

Lyssy May is all about using gorgeous materials to create fresh and different handmade bags and accessories. The March 2005 opening of Lyssy May's first design studio and retail store was the realisation of Alyssa's dream to have a space to create handmade things and to share them with others. In late 2008 Lyssy May moved to Melbourne and will soon be operating from a new studio in Kensington.

'Handmade things are all about time, effort and love. These three things are woven into the creation of each and every Lyssy May product'.
