Description

A one-of-a-kind shoulder bag handcrafted from a beautiful burnt toffee Japanese cotton and linen fabric with subtly woven polka dots.

Rich, warm, and effortlessly versatile — 'Burnt Caramel Noir' pairs a tactile Japanese cotton/linen base with a panel detail crafted from an Italian interiors fabric sample, trimmed with black ribbon and cream stitching. The panel is beautifully textured with a natural colour and black chevron pattern. A bag that works with a neutral palette all year round, and is as lightweight as it is practical.

  • Burnt toffee Japanese cotton/linen with subtly woven polka dots
  • Panel detail in Italian interiors fabric, trimmed with black ribbon and cream stitching
  • Fully lined with the same external fabric
  • Structured with heavyweight interfacing
  • Treated with upholstery grade chemical-free fabric protector
  • Small batch — exact pattern placement may vary slightly from images shown

Care Instructions

All Lyssy May fabric designs have been treated with a fabric protector prior to your purchase.

Fabric bags are fabulously lightweight and as a popular accessory there may be a time to give your design a freshen up. Many of our customers have been using their Lyssy May bag for years!

  • Any small marks that your bag may receive can be spot removed with a damp cloth. I have found the most effective method is to use an alcohol wipe, such as a baby wipe.
  • A separate cool hand wash in a mild detergent is all your bag needs to spring back into action.
  • Lie flat in the shade to dry.
  • Avoiding any embellishments, a warm iron is best to keep the design in shape.
  • If you are unsure about any of the care instructions, please email me with any of your questions and I'll more than happy to help.

Creative Process

After spending time choosing how the fabric will best suit a style (sometimes this can take quite a few hours of contemplation!) the Lyssy May handmade creation process kicks in -

  • choose a pattern from my paper pattern library
  • carefully cut out the fabric, linings, pockets, handles and interlining
  • press all of the above pieces ready with their seams etc ready to sew
  • match the sewing threads, wind the bobbins
  • thread my machine and start with sewing on my Lyssy May label
  • many trips between the machine and the iron during the making process
  • add fasteners and top stitch bag
  • press bag into shape
  • treat with fabric protector and dry in the shade
  • photograph, write a description and add it to the website for you to browse and after many hours of time, effort and love being woven into a design....voila here were are!

Please note that pattern placement will vary according to the way in which the fabric has been hand cut and may be slightly different to the image shown.
